The Police Department is taking applications for its Citizens Police Academy.
The eight-week program begins July 21 in the Police Department training room, according to a news release. Each class starts at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The program is designed to give residents a working knowledge of the Police Department and includes lectures, demonstrations and facility tours. Topics covered include police dog teams, the bomb squad, criminal investigations and forensics. Participants also will have the opportunity to ride with a patrol officer on shift.
Applicants must be at least 21 years of age and live or work in Bentonville. Applications and more information can be found on the city’s website, http://www.bentonvillear.com.
